When you eat too quickly, you eat beyond the hunger and invariably eat too much; more than you can use. Then later (there’s a delayed reaction) you’ll realize you ate too much. You might even have remorse.
By eating more slowly, you become more aware of your surroundings and food becomes part of the experience; Not the entire experience. Then you’ll stop eating when you’re no longer hungry, rather than when you’re full or because the food is gone. It’s a meal not a marathon.
